Vincent Associates prides itself on the quality
vacuum shutters manufactured available for use in numerous applications including but not limited to Video Imaging, Telescopy, Microscopy, Holography, and X-Ray Switching.
UNIBLITZ shutters can be operated in vacuum applications. These are sometimes referred to as vacuum shutters. Most standard devices that are used at one standard atmosphere can be modified for use in a vacuum. These devices would be modified to the "EC" standard vacuum specification or to the "ECE" extended vacuum specification for higher vacuums or space borne applications.
These modifications are made by encapsulating the shutter's actuator coil in a material that would prevent out gassing when the device is placed within the vacuum. Some of the supplementary modifications that go along with the addition of the encapsulated coil are: utilization of vacuum compatible lubricants, removing components within the device not deemed to be vacuum compatible, using vacuum compatible adhesives, etc.
Vincent Associates has a number of apertures and shutter types available to meet most applications. Shown below is a quick comparison of the available vacuum shutter types and some of their features.
