NS65 Shutter Specifications - COMING SOON - CALL FOR MORE INFORMATION
We our proud to introduce a 65mmm aperture shutter to our dependable NS Shutter Series, the NS65. In the 65mm aperture version, the NS65, has a total of seven moving parts, six of which are the blades themselves! Reducing the number of moving components has significantly enhanced the reliability of the NS65.
The NS65 is presently the same overall diameter as our CS65 and can fit into a 5-inch diameter housing. The NS65 is currently a bi-stable shutter and no power is required to hold the shutter in ei-ther the open or closed state. Power is required only to change state of the device. Our current VDM1000 controller can operate this device.
By reducing the number of components and utilizing the bi-stable operation has allowed for a more reliable and dependable device.
FEATURES
- Two Distinct Moving Parts - The drive ring and the blades are the only parts in motion limiting points of wear.
- Bi-stable Configuration- The bi-stable configuration only requires power to change state. No power is required to hold the shutter in the open or close state.
- Designed For Integration- The simple design provides maximum clearance around the aperture. The device features flat machined surfaces for integration into virtually any system.
- Coated Blades- The NS65 can be equipped with reflective coated blades for applications where high intensity light sources are being utilized.
- Largest Aperture For NS Shutter Series- The NS65, which is a 65mm size aperture, has replaced NS45 as the largest aperture size shutter in the NS shutter series.
- Small For Factor- The NS65 has the same overall diameter as our CS65. This allows the device to fit in a 5-inch diameter housing.

The question regarding enhancement of shutter speed with the application of user supplied lubricants has been repeatedly asked. It is our experience that lubricating the shutter blades will actually slow the shutter down and eventually render the shutter inoperable. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANY TYPE OF LUBRICANT BE APPLIED TO THE SHUTTER BLADE AREA
All timing specification were measured using the N-CAS® VDM1000 Drive Controller.
Unhoused Style
The only protruding components are the coils, which are 1.560 inch away from the center of the aperture. The shutter can be easily mounted to any optical system using the supplied (3) three .070 inch diameter holes (120degrees apart). Presently the unit will terminate to a 5-pin male Switchcraft connector.
