Mechanical Shutters
Vincent Associates prides itself on the quality mechanical shutters manufactured available for use in numerous applications including but not limited to video imaging, telescopy, microscopy, holography, and x-ray switching.
UNIBLITZ® shutters are mechanical in nature and are controlled electromagnetically. The nature of the UNIBLITZ® mechanical shutter device is that a metal or other low mass material blade is actually moved in an out of a light path.
This is opposed to a crystal or optical shutter type device that interposes a dark state into a light path (i.e. Liquid Crystal Device type) via an electrical pulse. By utilizing the low mass blade material, UNIBLITZ® mechanical shutters have the advantage of completely turning off the light with an opaque blade or set of blades, providing a 100% contrast ratio. As opposed to crystal or optical shutter types that achieve contrast ratios of less than 100%.
Vincent Associates has a number of apertures and mechanical shutter types available to meet most applications. Shown below is a quick comparison of the available mechanical shutter types and some of their features.
